I am not your typical make-up girl. I am an “apply in the morning once and forget about it” kind of girl. Very low maintenance and laid back. I use make-up. I am not a fan of leaving the house without it but I have never stepped foot in a Sephora store. Not even once. Until I learned about the toxins found in make-up, I bought mine at either Ulta or Target. But one of my life philosophies is “when you know better, you do better.” So when I did find out about the toxins found in most makeup, I started my research and quickly made some big changes.

According to The Huffington Post, “The Average Woman Puts 515 Synthetic Chemicals On Her Body Every Day Without Knowing It. And 60 percent of what we put onto our skin is absorbed into our bodies.” I don’t know about you, but for me, I have two daughters who also use makeup and after I found out how nasty all of the makeup was that I was using for me and my girls, I was on a mission to make some big changes.

I found some great non-toxic options at first, but most of them were very expensive and often hard to find. I was able to find some at Target and some at the local food store, Sprouts but then in the summer of 2017, Young Living announced their new Make-up line, Savvy Minerals!

Enter, happy dance! Young Living had already gained my fullest trust because I know their mission and I know their Seed to Seal Promise. I also know the emphasis that they put on having clean, safe and affordable products. So to say I was excited, would be an understatement!

I started using Savvy Minerals Makeup by Young Living in the summer of 2017 and haven’t looked back, not even for a second. My daughters use it too! This make-up is not just easy to apply but is affordable and free of all of the toxic crap found in other makeup.

Actually, it has NOTHING that’s dirty in this list.

NO parabens- Parabens are toxic preservatives. There was a study done with 20 women who had breast cancer. Their breast cancer tumors were biopsied and they all had parabens in them! Our body holds onto this stuff. So scary and so bad.

NO bismuth- Bismuth is a nasty metal in most mineral makeups – it’s especially activating for anyone with acne or acne scarring and will cause additional breakouts.

NO talc- Have you guys recently heard of the Johnson and Johnson lawsuit over talc in their baby powder? They were ordered to pay $72 million in damages to the family of an Alabama woman who died from ovarian cancer allegedly caused by using the company’s Baby Powder and other products that contained talc for feminine hygiene. NO thanks.

NO fragrance- Did you know that a company can label “fragrance”in their ingredients list and that can be covering up a 100 different chemicals? I see that as a way to hide what’s really going into those products. Only essential oils are used in this makeup line!

NO dyes- This makeup only uses mica for coloring which is a naturally occurring mineral! Dyes can be really scary. They are known to cause different types of cancer as well as other health issues.

Here’s what IS in our makeup.

Arrowroot powder- Known to improve and heal skin.

Kaolin clay- A white clay that is nourishing and soothing.

Jojoba oil- Filled with b vitamins and is the closest oil to our lips natural oil.

Aloe- This is the base of some of the products!

Essential oils- Duh
